By The Inmate Informant (June 16th, 2008)
First off, I apologize for not being up to date with these columns, but with June 13th being the first actual taste of ACW in almost a year, it's hard to write about anything, when there was nothing going on. I know Bishop was (is) going through some personal issues, but even I won't go there, not too cool. But June 13th has come and gone and now I have plenty to talk about, mostly good stuff, a little bit of sour stuff.
The ACW set up is a thousand times better than it was last year at Mr. Bigs. When I first saw the Expo Center where they were going to hold their events, I didn't think much of it. It looked like a gutted out Home Depot Outdoors Department, but when I showed up on June 13th, it looked nothing like that. The curtain for the wrestlers to come out was twice as big as last year, and with a monitor built into it. Even though the sun bleached it out a little, it still looked great. And once the sun went down behind the mountains, we could see everything.
The ring announcer Danger Dean started the show, and from talking to him earlier, I could tell that he was extremely nervous, but still held up nicely for his first time out. As the night went on Dean got better and visibly more relaxed, I actually enjoyed him more than Steve O last May & 9 million times more than that clown they had last June.
Bishop's opening promo was hilarious as always, I like how he's honest with the crowd, and basically doesn't need any gimmicks or characters, he just talks to them like they are a part of the show, and the few hundred in attendance took an immediate liking to him. The Blonde that came out, I didn't catch her name, I heard the word Pringle in her name, but either way she even got my little boy worked up, Daddy was feeling it too. Gorgeous woman, but we had to boo her because she was out there on behalf of Jeremy Quinn, whom was said to be in London scouting talent. I'll do my best to find out the true reason he wasn't there. Either way, The hot blonde brought out Mr. Saturday Night Michael Barry to fill in for Jeremy Quinn, and it seems as though a stable is being formed with Michael Barry, the Pringle Blonde, Jeremy Quinn, and maybe somebody from London? I'm a fan of big heel factions, so hopefully this one will fill that void in ACW if it happens.
A match between Bishop & Barry ensued after the opening promo, Bishop looks about 30 lbs lighter, and he and Barry put on a solid match that I cannot wait to see on DVD or You Tube soon. Both took some awful looking falls on the wooden coffin looking stairs. Barry wins the match with a little help from the hot Pringle girl, and the window looked left open for a long fun rivalry to watch.
Next out was the legendary Dr Death Steve Williams for a promo. I didn't realize that Dr. Death had throat cancer, but he looks great for having gone through what he did. I only got a handshake backstage, never one to want to bug these guys, but he seemed like a nice enough guy. Unlike a lot of the bigger names touring the smaller feds. I was curious to hear a little more about Dr. Death's battle with cancer and how he got back into wrestling, but he was cut off by The Pastor Kenneth Campbell & a big dude whom I'll just call His Churchy Stooge, because I didn't catch a name there either. Campbell did make me laugh by asking if ACW couldn't gather $25 and book the Midnight Express. The Churchy Stooge ended up ripping pages out of Dr. Death's book in front of him, only to receive a face full of Steve Williams' fist. Dr. Death challenged Campbell to match, but he left with his stooge before answering.
The fatal four way cruiserweight title match was amazing. There were a few blown spots, and a few near death experiences, but there always seems to be during these kind of matches. JT Lamotta is awesome and I hope he sticks with ACW for years, so I can see him do what he does. Rob Ryzin and FX stepped up their game to ACW levels, and performed like I've never seem them perform. Mitch W. Carter is another wrestler that I could watch everyday. I need to see more variations of singles matches between these four. ACW has a great Cruiserweight Division, add Lonnie Valdez and a couple others to the mix and you can't beat it.
Speaking of Lonnie, I was happy to see the next tag team match, because it featured four of my favorite Colorado wrestlers and friends. Joshua Michael (Who I think likes me again) tagged up with the always funny Johnny Crash who brought out a friend of mine going by Roxy as his valet. Their opponents were uncertain because Tag Champion Epic had yet to announce his new partner, which ended up being Lonnie Valdez, the very same guy he beat last year to get the chance to wear both belts and choose a new partner. Much like the previous match, this one was filled with incredible action, maneuver after maneuver, hold into hold, and it was a treat for the fans to watch. And watching Lonnie Valdez wrestle heel was also a treat. Lonnie is my favorite Colorado wrestler, but he's always been the straight forward no nonsense face, seeing him in the ring as the "bad guy" seemed to fit almost too perfectly. I loved it. And once again with this win, Epic & Lonnie are ACW Tag Team Champions. Who can beat them? seriously?
After the tag match, Michael Barry and the hot blonde made a surprise return to the ring by attacking both Joshua Michael & Johnny Crash. Michael Barry just wanted to let the fans know that he was going to win the Battle Royale tonight and leave champion, that's all. A lot of us were concerned about Crash being seriously injured, due to the way they ended the match, it looked like he might have been hurt, but so far we've heard nothing.
Dr. Death & Kenneth Campbell locked up after that in a nice old school wrestling match. Dr. Death gave a lot to Campbell, and they looked as if they have wrestled a hundred times. I'm glad that Steve Williams is still doing this, and I'm glad he lives in Colorado, and I'm extremely glad that he's in ACW. And yes, Bishop has confirmed that he will be back next month. Campbell once again left this match with the big Churchy Stooge dragging him back. So there is an unfinished angle here that will most likely carry over into the July 18th show. Great to see that Dr. Death still has it. And that's coming from a fan, and we are the only ones that matter right?
Now this point of the show is where things went sour for me, and made me start to wonder what the hell Bishop is thinking at times. The Gore Girls were just stupid and boring. I understand throwing a little something different into the mix, but this was lame. Maybe a short dance routine would have been nice, or a strip tease for us guys, but this didn't work at all, and killed a lot of the crowd. A few people that were sitting around our section left when they were doing whatever it was that they were doing. I felt like leaving as well, but I figured it would eventually end. It took forever, but it ended.
After the Gore stuff, Campbell came back out and called them just about everything I wanted to call them. I was cheering for him at this point. The Stooge was going to paddle one of them, but Dr. Death made another appearance and ran them off. Part of my even wanted Dr. Death to take out the Gore Girls as well.
The Harcore match between Carnage & Rex Reed didn't happen again for the third time. I think ACW needs to leave it alone. They've advertised that match on every Colorado ACW show so far, and it hasn't happened. This time Rex chickened out. Carnage then found himself fighting an ACW legend instead. The first ever ACW Champion Seven filled the void nicely, and a bloodbath ensued. I didn't understand why the skeletons and severed heads were in the ring, but why not? This match was pretty slow, and outside of a couple sloppy looking hard falls, it didn't do much for us fans. Blood is nice, and Carnage gave us quite enough. Some of the kids in the crowd wouldn't even look at him. I thank them both for putting it all on the line for us fans, but at the same time, it was a pretty weak match compared to the rest of the show.
Main Event is here! The Biggest Battle Royale in wrestling history may have been a slight stretch, it looked like about 20-25 wrestlers came out fighting from the curtain. Hardly the biggest ever, but still a lot of people in one match. The roller derby girls seemed like they were in the way at first, but it made sense to have them there after a few were thrown out of the ring. I have no idea what the referee was doing there, I just saw Carnage beat him bloody, like he gets beaten bloody on almost every show. The high flying stuff in the beginning from Lamotta, Bishop, FX, Ryzin & Carter was great, I truly enjoy those moments in matches. Lamotta had the best 360 jump off the top rope into the crowd outside the ring. Bishop's looked like it legit killed a few people as well. From there it got a little confusing. Carnage just started throwing people everywhere, and then everyone through him out. It got down to a few, when Dr. Death made another appearance and eliminated Kenneth Campbell. I think the last three were Bishop, Joshua Michael and Michael Barry. Jishua eliminated Bishop, who legit looked pissed about it. then a minute later eliminated Michael Barry to win the ACW Championship. I never thought in a million years he would walk out the winner! I feel kind of dumb for all of those shot I took at him in earlier columns. But seeing him with the belt made sense to us the fans, and I think he'll be a great champion.
After Joshua Michael won the title, Michael Barry entered the ring again and beat him down quickly, Bishop came back out with a chair, and Barry & the blonde left. Then Bishop nailed Joshua Michael with the chair??? Nice turn! I thought that Bishop might have been joining with Barry, but I think he was just upset with Joshua over being thrown out of the match.
Either way, this was a great night of wrestling action, and outside of the lame bloody girls thing, I think 100% of the crowd will be back for more on July 18th. This show was the ebst show I've been to outside of WWE events, and it truly rivals that in a lot of ways. Now I am on the ACW crew and I'm biased to a point, but anyone in that crowd would agree that this night was very very good. Congrats to Bishop and all of ACW for making it happen. Now hopefully the next show won't suck and ruin it for me!
By The Inmate Informant (May 16th, 2008)
How dry I am! I get a fix off of my Colorado Wrestling, and outside of helping
ACW move the ring this Saturday to their new arena, I'm getting slightly annoyed
with my lack of shows to attend. I have to wait a damn year for ACW to run it's
next show (since last June) on June 13th, Saga used to run monthly, but has yet
to put on an show since their big show in February, and there are a few others
than I have to wait until June for as well. Hopefully these promoters, Bishop
included will get themselves right and start running my monthly shows again!
We're tired of waiting already!
In ACW news, like I said, I'll be helping the crew move their ring to the Expo Center down in Colorado Springs, I think I'm getting a free T-shirt out of it, but that's fine by me, I'm not in this for the money, I'm just a fan that wants to help out in any stupid way I can find. I've been warned that the ACW set up is a complete bitch to relocate, and I haven't been on the "Bishop diet" myself, so I'm sure it'll be a badly needed work out for me.
All of the wrestlers I know here in Colorado are pumped up about the return of ACW in The Springs on June 13th, even Joshua Michael. From what long time ACW wrestlers like Mitch W. Carter have said, ACW is a great place to learn many sides of the business, and complete yourself as a solid wrestler, During our brief exchange of MySpace messages, Mitch stated that he's been with ACW through some of the best times & worst time, but he's always had a great time and enjoys wrestling under the ACW banner more than any other place he's wrestled. Looking forward to meeting him in person on June 13th if the chance presents itself.
Some behind the scenes dirt I dug up, the combined bill for all of the advertising going into getting the word out about June 13th is higher than just about any other show ACW has ever put on. Fans in Colorado can expect a storm of radio, television, newspapers, posters, and banners everywhere they look. And who knows how much Dr. Death will be asking for during his ACW debut. Sounds like ACW better bring a rear end for every chair they have available, just to pay the bills. In my best attempts to be a reporter, I asked Bishop how expensive this show really was, and he simply responded calmly, "the show is paid for", and I felt the need to pursue any more information after that. I guess I'm not such a great reporter.
Since the June 13th show is still a little less than a month away, and there is nothing in the way of new news coming off a recent show, I figured I would once again anger the masses by serving my opinions to them on a silver platter. Below I have listed to top 10 ACW wrestlers who I think will win the Battle Royale and the ACW heavyweight belt. Now remember kids, these are only MY OPINIONS! If you don't like them, the forum is open and free to use, but don't rip my head off because I have a different opinion than you, OK? I'll start with my number 10 pick and work my way to number one... In the future after the show I'll rank my "Unofficial" top 20 in each column, I'm sure that'll piss you off as well. But I won't rank them from an ACW administrative view, I'll be ranking them from a fans point of view, and my son will help as well, so that'll be an Old fart fan & a young kid fan making the ranking. Here's my picks for the Royale:
10. Joshua Michael: God forbid he's not on this list, I'd get a seven page rebuttal against me! Actually he is one of my favorites in Colorado, He could end up with the gold, probably not, but anything could happen.
9. Dr. Death Steve Williams: Kind of a long shot, because I'm not sure if he's only coming around for one night, or if he's going to be a fixture in ACW. On paper, he's certainly a choice to be champion. How cool would that be for ACW to have such a popular name in wrestling represent their title.
8. Lonnie Valdez: The Saga Champion, and my all time favorite Colorado wrestler. Will ACW carry the Valdez/Epic feud over to this year? If so I doubt Lonnie Valdez will win the title, but he's my pick.
7. Carnage: Who's going to throw out a 420lb man? I also hear he's a big deal in Oklahoma, having held numerous belts, plus he's a multi-time ACW Institutional champion. Easy bet to win the Royale and take the gold back to Oklahoma with him.
6. Mike Dibiase: Now I know he's not scheduled to be in ACW until July, but stranger things have happened in wrestling. I've seen a lot of Mike Dibiase's stuff online, he's going to be a huge part of the line up, what better place for him than on top of the mountain?
5. Brandon Bishop: Bishop is a two time former champion, last time he held his own belt was in August of 2004. Bishop is not only the owner of ACW, but a full time wrestler. It might be time for his to sit on top of his own creation. promoters seem to like doing that once in a while.
4. Demont Taylor: Last year Demont got a lot of attention in ACW by winning the Asylum Royale and earning a title shot. He got screwed out of the title shot by Michael Barry, but should still be in contention, I can see his title aspirations carrying on into 2008.
3. Josh FX Evans: I guess this is him ACW name now, last year is was Josh FX Spicolli, elsewhere it's just FX, but anyways, I know that he & Bishop are tight as friends, maybe some of that "knowing the right people" stuff may come into play during the Royale on June 13th. FX is a fun wrestler to watch, one of my favorites, he just recently had some interest from TNA, and ACW might want to use him to his potential before he heads off to brighter pastures.
2. Michael Barry: Seems like the perfect fit for an ACW champion. Came close a couple times in 2007, but with former champion John O'Malley out of the picture, the belt might be his for the taking. Great heel, fun to watch, easy to hate. Him having the ACW title would be unbearable, but fun at the same time.
1. ME: That's right I'm copping out by not listing a number one choice. I'm going to jump the ring during the Royale and throw over 30 wrestlers out of the ring by myself and take home the ACW gold! Well maybe not, but I didn't want to pick a number one choice because truly ACW could see any of those wrestlers win, and I don't want to be wrong about anything, ever! But I guess that would technically mean Michael Barry was my #1 choice. either way, I'm sticking to my list the way it is!
See you next week with all the dirt I find out while moving the ACW ring.
By The Inmate Informant (May 5th, 2008)
First off let me say this, I was a fan of Joshua Michael, and actually someone
that knows him quite well. But for the sake of keeping my column of this web
site, once again I won’t disclose my identity, and he’ll just have to keep on
wondering. His little crybaby speech on this web site’s forum was pretty funny.
My picks to win the Royale we’re based on whom I thought ACW would rather have
win, not who my choices are. Speaking that I haven’t seen half of the people in
it, I truly can’t make an educated guess, but my choices would have been Lonnie
Valdez, Joshua Michael or Brandon Bishop. Lonnie & Joshua are two great
athletes, and amazing to watch, Bishop is a great entertainer and a good
wrestler. Eat s#it if you don’t agree with my picks. They’re my picks. Pick your
own Unreal picks and choose yourself all you want, but leave my opinions alone.
I also think Michael Barry would make a great ACW Champion. This guy has it all,
and fits better into the ACW mold than just about anyone else in ACW right now.
Also, will Dr. Death Steve Williams be in the Royale? He could leave as
champion. The web site doesn’t say he’s in it, but he might be. Hell, Kay O
could win it and be the first female champion of ACW.
I do have access to ask questions about a lot of things within ACW and several other feds in Colorado, but as far as guessing the winners, I have only educated guesses. Demont Taylor was getting some momentum last year in ACW, he was in line for a title shot, who cares how great he is in the ring, wrestling’s not always about fitting 1,000 moves into a match. I’ve seen every match that ACW, Saga, IWF, Primos, RMCW & Fusion have had over the past couple years, and I’m a paying fan, my opinion counts more than yours Joshua, because without us the fans, you’d just be some idiot jumping around a ring for no reason.
And yes after reading my column I agree that I may have blown a little too much smoke up Bishop’s ass, but he is the guy that’s allowing me to have this opportunity, and I appreciate it. Plus, like many others, I like to watch the guy wrestle. What’s wrong with someone else having a fan? Are you that full of your own junk that hearing admiration for another wrestler doesn’t sit well with you? And why would you get so pissy about something a fan wrote? Especially when hardly any of it had anything to do with you? And the part that mentioned you was complimentary? I mean c’mon guy, get over yourself & get over it! You pretty much made yourself look ignorant, and I’m a friend of yours saying this.
Anyways, onto more important news, ACW has announced it’s second date at The Expo Center in The Springs. The Backlash to June 13th event will take place on July 18th, with tickets being available on June 13th for the next event at a discounted rate. Also the August event will either take place on Friday August 15th, or Saturday August 16th, depending on the arenas availability. Bishop told me that he would like to move the shows to Saturday nights, but Friday is just fine for now.
A local DJ will be recording a segment for his radio show as a member of the Battle Royale (Even he could win Josh). He is the morning show guy for Colorado Springs Cat Country. He’ll be talking about the ACW show all week on his station as well as doing several ticket giveaways.
Also the new ring announcer for ACW will be someone named Danger Dean, and all I can say is that I truly hope he’s better than the guy they has fill in last year. Dean is the morning radio jock for Magic FM in The Springs, but has now also signed on as full time ring announcer for ACW. More free radio exposure!
Bishop wanted me to thank the sponsors for him, but he gave me this column to write what I wanted to write about, therefore I don’t want to. Besides you can just look at the cluttered web site for the new sponsors if it means that much to you.
Both Saga & IWF Primos are running shows here in Denver in June from what I’m hearing. They have fun shows up here and the ACW fans should make the hour trip to watch them. There is a lot of wrestling here for the true fans of this sport.
I have heard that Johnny Crash will have his own segment on ACW shows called “The Crash Landing” kind of like a Piper’s Pit knock off. Crash is a unique character and hopefully will make this unique also.
And to end this I’ll just say that Bishop might have a huge announcement coming in a couple weeks. He played the B.S. game of not telling me what it is until it’s confirmed, but I feel that it’s my duty to at least inform you that something is on the horizon, and even though I did my best to coax him into letting me in on it, for now it’s a secret. Knowing him it’s probably about some big sponsor or some lame crap like that, big news to him, but to the rest of us not so much. Maybe ACW is bringing in another big name soon? Who knows, I’m done wasting my time trying to find out.
In closing, thanks again to Bishop who has informed me that he’s down to 250lbs now, down from 275lbs. You’re still a fat ass compared to me, but good job. I hope that my small opinions once again offended you, I could care less. These are my opinions, if you can’t get over them, feel free to write your own. Also I’m not getting paid for this, nor am I being coached or censored in any way, nor am I a washed up wrestler trying to get into the show. I have tickets. And allow me to say that just because I enjoy one product over another, doesn’t mean that I’m talking bad about the others, I just have an opinion alright? I like to voice and explain this fan’s opinion. I love the fact that I can see wrestling just about every week in Colorado. I have a great time at each show, and now I’ve been getting in free as well, which saves me a few bucks between the kid and I. Just take a chill pill and don’t allow one fan’s opinion get you so up in arms. I’m sure there are people out there that will hate ACW, who cares? I’ll still be in the stands, and a lot of others will be there with me enjoying the shows.
See you next week!
By The Inmate Informant (April 26th, 2008)
Before I say anything about anything to anyone, please be advised that there is
a message forum on this web site in which you can respond to anything I say. It
doesn't take long to register and even a completely retarded ape can figure it
out.
First off I wanted to thank Brandon
Bishop & Mike Shumaker in ACW for letting me have this segment. I won't tell you
who I am but I will share with you that I'm a fan of this sport, I'm an educated
fan of this sport, and I know more about what goes on behind the scenes in
Colorado's Wrestling Circuit than most of the promoters do, including Bishop.
I'm not here to rip people apart, but some things need to be said, and I applaud
ACW for giving me this format to do so, Much better than my MySpace page which I
never get around to updating.
Though ACW is allowing me to do this, I have already forewarned Bishop, Shumaker
and the entire staff that they are not safe just because this is their web site.
Of course I wish no physical harm, but if something stinks, I'm going to point
it out and make sure they know that it stinks. I did promise to hold my language
to at least a low R Rating, even though this is ACW and I could go on the
"Insane Television" link and see and hear just about every outlandish thing
possible, but for the most part I'll be a good little boy. Bishop and I have a
lot in common as far as possessing a love for stirring the pot & creating
uncomfortable situations, we share a respect for one another in that regard, so
let's get to it.
The first shovel full of dirt is
concerning the cancellation of the last ACW event in August of last year. Bishop
said his piece about it and moved on, but I wish to add my own pocket of change
as well. Here's what happened, The Alcohol enforcement agency down in Colorado
Springs mistook the ACW event for a Mixed Martial Arts or Tough Man Contest. In
Colorado those types of events need to be sanctioned by the state, licensed &
regulated. In the case of Pro Wrestling, It does not. We all know the difference
between what we do & what they do, (Ours hurts a lot more!). So on the day of
the show, with the ring already set up, lights ready to be turned on, chairs in
place and advertising already paid for, the former ACW venue "The Bigg City
Event Center" got a call from the AEA. The AEA threatened to revoke the venue's
liquor license if they held our event, thus giving them no choice what so ever
than to cancel the event. Bishop got the call from Bigg City about 4-5 hours
before the show according to what he said in an interview that's currently on
You Tube. Several wrestlers had already made the trip from various parts of the
country, and we're actually sleeping at Bishop's house. Apparently Bishop tried
to resolve the issue but with no luck, and due to the fact that it was Labor Day
Weekend, getting a hold of anyone with the ability to correct the city's mistake
was impossible. So basically they bent over Bishop, ACW, and the ACW fans and
nailed them right up the ass without the luxury of lubricant.
Bishop, the kind and understanding man that he is, has appeared to have finally
let it go, though he has told me that his lawyers are currently still looking
into the state's & the city's legislature on the topic, and have found nothing
in the way of anything that would not allow a Pro Wrestling event to take place
in a venue that sells alcohol. Bishop & Shumaker are spending most of their time
& efforts on the June 13th event, which is understandable. But here's what I
have a major beef with. The Bigg City Event Center. I cannot for a second
believe that they would cancel an event on the day of a show, without putting up
any sort of fight what so ever. When Bishop told me this, I couldn't believe it.
Bishop was telling me how the Expo Center said that would have never cancelled
an event in such a situation, and can't understand why Bigg City would. Also
there is zero in the way of paper work that would even prove that there was such
a call. Basically what I'm getting at is that The Bigg City Event Center and
weak kneed management they have up there a just as much to blame for the event
being cancelled as the morons that don't know the difference between UFC & WWE
in the AEA. It's unbelievable to me. I was one of the people that went to the
August 2007 ACW event and was met with a sign telling us that the AEA had the
show shut down, we we're at the first two ACW event last year at The Bigg City
event center and couldn't wait for more. When we got there and saw the sign, me
and my 6 year old son we're just a little beyond pissed off. First at ACW, for
some reason I was expecting some kind of notice, even though ACW had no way of
getting the word out in time. There were hundreds of people doing to 30 yard
walk from the parking lot to the closed doors, and a lot of them were just as
pissed as we were.
ACW does things so differently than what Colorado Wrestling fans got used to.
There are a lot of good wrestlers in Colorado, and 90% of the best are on the
ACW line up, but when they're in ACW they just look a thousand times better. It
feels like a big show, instead of some little rinky dink show that looks throw
together at the last minute. But ACW certainly has it's faults as well.
The June 2007 ACW event was good, but technical issues seemed to almost kill it.
You could easily tell that Bishop was pissed off through have of the show, not
because he was selling the drama, but because of technical difficulties. Also
the ring announcer they had was horrible. Kenneth Campbell beat Rexx Reed for
the ACW Institutional Title and the old bald idiot didn't even acknowledge the
title switch! WTF? The first ring announcer they had, I think his name was Steve
O, like the Jackass guy, he looked like he belonged in there doing that job, the
last guy just sucked major ass, and we all wanted him to die. At least Bishop
made light of him throughout the show, which made me realize that he wanted him
to die as well.
The video screen issues kind of ruined a lot of the introductions as well.
Seeing the outline of the computer's window screen just made it look cheap and
not thought out very well, Bishop turned purple when I mentioned the issues they
had with the projector on those shows, and has made it clear that fixing that
issue was one of the main tasks he has already accomplished, and that on June
13th there shouldn't be anymore of that.
As far as the talent in ACW goes, you
can tell that the guys that came here from other parts of the country with ACW
know how to perform. The issue with a lot of the Colorado feds around here in
Denver is that they are all go and no show. Sure we all love the high flying
moves, and we love it when the sport of it comes in to play, but wrestling fans
want to be a part of the show, and not just ticket buyers standing by patiently
while these amazing athletes show off their skills. ACW has brought that to
Colorado, and Bishop has brought a lot of that to other promotions up here in
Denver. Bishop can work a crowd better than anyone in Colorado, and by no means
am I saying that to kiss his ass. The whole reason I wanted to meet Bishop was
because I enjoy his work, and that led to me pestering him into allowing me to
have this column. Bishop's Saga match in Denver with an injured Raven had about
a total of six moves involved with it, but by far was the most entertaining
highlight of the night. Sure the Chris Daniels Match & the main event could have
easily been on any national wrestling show, but Bishop and Raven stole the show
just by making us laugh.
Now much like ACW, Bishop isn't without his faults either. I know he's an old
man, but damn Bishop get to the gym and get a tan! With all due fairness, I hear
that he's just lost nearly 20 pounds because of a health scare, but the tanning
booth is still calling old man!
The dirt that I have on the June 13th
event is pretty simple. On paper it looks like it might be the best Indy show to
ever take place in Colorado, at least from the one's that I've seen, and I go to
all of them! I'm looking forward to seeing how Dr. Death Steve Williams looks. I
know right after his throat cancer scare he looked like he weighed about 100lbs,
but recently has gotten himself back into ring shape. The ACW card doesn't state
who he will be wrestling so I'm gathering that his opponent will be introduced
on that night. Either way it's a great story that he has, and it has led him
into the ACW ring.
I truly think that having a 30 plus man Battle Royale is a little over board.
What's wrong with just a 20 Man Royale? I think it's going to be a total mess
and we the fans won't know what's going on until at least half of them are gone.
And how long are the intros going to take? Seriously. Even if they hurry them up
we're looking at almost 20 minutes of intros. Who will win? I'd say either
Michael Barry, Demont Taylor or Bishop himself. Barry & Taylor had title shots
last year, and it looks like most of the angles will keep going even though it's
a year later. I've never heard of most of the 30 plus in the Royale, but I did
notice that Kay O' will be involved from IWF, and she's a she! So it'll be 30
plus men & a one lady, or more for all I know.
I agree will ACW in that the
Cruiserweight 4 way match will probably steal the show. I've seen You Tube stuff
of Lamotta and the guy is amazing, plus Rob Ryzin will do his best Jeff Hardy,
which is not a bad thing, and the work rate of The President guy Mitch Carter is
off the meter. Now they replaced some guy named Joe Corman with one of my
favorite Colorado wrestlers FX, which makes this match even better for me.
The Roller Derby girls will be back as special guest enforcers for the 30 plus
Battle Royale, which might make it an even bigger clusterf**k. But they were
quite enjoyable at the ACW May 2007 event when they served as lumber"jills" for
the Campbell Carnage match. I have no idea what The Go Go Gore Girls are, or
what they will be doing, but I'm hoping they don't end up being like The Nitro
Girls on WCW. That would suck. They're supposed to do a Hardcore warm up routine
for the Carnage Rexx Reed blood bath, hopefully they won't kill it for the fans.
But I have an open mind, ACW is good at adding odd items into the mix. If it
sucks I'll grab a beer during their performance.
Epic is still half of the tag champions in ACW, I had actually forgotten about that. He holds both belts when he won the chance to find a new partner by beating his old championship partner Lonnie Valdez in June 2007. He's had a year to figure out a new partner, and with all the "Epic is Gay" chants he gets in Denver, it's kind of funny to say he's looking for a new partner. I think he's choose someone like Joshua Michael, maybe FX will do double duty. He'll probably choose someone he knows from the Saga fed. Let's just hope he doesn't have to cut any promos, Zzzzzzz!.
I hope ACW gets the Hardcore element right this time, the June 2007 match between The preacher Kenneth Campbell and Rexx Reed was pretty lame. No blood, only used a chain & a ladder. and the ending was weak. Not to mention the ring announcer, like I said earlier, killed it even more. I like watching the 400 pound Carnage, he moves good for a giant, and I think he'll have better chemistry with Rexx. More weapons please! And Bleed damn you!
All in all I'm looking very forward
to the June 13th show at The Expo. ACW has been worth the hour drive on two
occasions so far, and now that I'm given the ability to truly report how I feel
the show went, this might be the most fun I've had at a wrestling show yet.
And just a warning to the locker room, and to everyone involving in Colorado
Wrestling, if you F-up, I will be there, and it will end up on here! Thanks
again to that fat old bastard Bishop, and the the rest of ACW. See you next
week!
